Board approves Sports Entertainment & Marketing II course; changes attendance time for Temple College students

Gatesville ISD trustees approved an 'innovative course' proposal to add Sports Entertainment and Marketing II, an extension of an existing class that will allow students to pursue industry-based certification and earn CCMR credit. The board heard that the course lacks a standardized curriculum and therefore requires board approval; the district said the course will be taught by Michael Hallman at the high school.

During the same portion of the agenda, staff proposed changing the official morning attendance-taking time for high-school students who travel to Temple College from 1:15 p.m. to 2:10 p.m. Staff said the later attendance time will reduce rushed travel and help students arrive more safely after returning from the college campus.
