Red Wing board approves consent agenda, personnel nonrenewals, MSHSL membership, contract updates and RFP for Jefferson building

At its regular meeting, the Red Wing Public Schools board approved several routine and business items, including personnel recommendations, organizational memberships and a plan to solicit offers for the Jefferson building.
Superintendent (remarks) recommended nonrenewal of the probationary contracts for Valerie Lee and Jason Mach, citing licensure problems; the board moved forward with the recommendation during the business portion of the meeting. The board also adopted its annual resolution to remain a member of the Minnesota State High School League, which governs high school athletics and many fine‑arts competitions.
Administration reviewed a set of contract updates that align health‑insurance contributions, add Juneteenth as a holiday and apply negotiated percentage increases to salary and benefits packages. A motion to approve the contracts was made by "Mister Koenig" and seconded by "Mister Bryant"; the board recorded ayes and the resolution passed.
On facilities, administration recommended issuing a request for proposals for the Jefferson building, with an open‑house site visit scheduled for June 18 and a proposal deadline of July 24. The proposed terms include a 10% nonrefundable earnest money requirement if a buyer fails to close. The board authorized staff to begin the RFP process.
The board also completed a three‑year policy review of multiple policy numbers (including 713, 714, 720, 799 and 801) and approved the review as presented.
Votes and motions were recorded by voice vote during the meeting; where recorded, motions were seconded and the chair announced that motions passed. The board adjourned after discussing upcoming meetings and a possible summer retreat.
