PERRYTON ISD board keeps $50,000 micro-purchase threshold; approves appraisers and minutes

The PERRYTON ISD Board of Trustees approved maintaining a $50,000 micro-purchase threshold, adopted the district's list of 2025—6 appraisers and approved the minutes of the previous meeting during its most recent session.
Superintendent Brown opened the meeting with a correction to her earlier report on cross-country results, saying the figures previously cited were from a separate LCU meet with 39 teams and about 400 runners. "Our varsity boys and our JV boys actually won," she said, adding, "I apologize for the inaccuracy, but I've been corrected, and I'm very happily, happy to be corrected on that." The superintendent's correction clarified that the district performed better at the Wolf Creek meet than she had initially reported.
On purchasing policy, Superintendent Brown said the district's proposed $50,000 threshold "allows us to purchase without coming to the board for approval" for routine items and helps keep construction work moving. "Especially right now when we're doing construction, it allows us to keep things moving forward without having to go through an extra process," she said. An unidentified speaker noted that "the federal government actually went up to a 100,000, but we're not asking for that. We're just gonna stick with the 50,000." The board moved, seconded and approved the threshold; the clerk recorded the vote as "7 0."
The trustees also approved a slate of appraisers for the 2025—6 school year as required by district procedure. Brown said appraisals are likely to be scheduled in November, December, February and March to give principals time to settle into classrooms before evaluations begin. A question was raised about whether Miss Zavala was listed among the appraisers; the board agreed to address any missing names at a subsequent meeting. The motion to adopt the appraisers roster carried with the tally recorded as "7 0 1."
Procedural business included approval of the minutes from the Aug. 25 meeting (motion carried, tally recorded as "7 0") and setting the next regular board meeting for Oct. 20. The meeting was then adjourned.
No ordinances, contracts or budget amendments were adopted in this session. Where individual votes were recorded, the clerk's tallies were included in the minutes as noted above.
