La Crosse Elementary presents instructional highlights and student Beta Club testimonials

Principal Connie Puckett told the board La Crosse Elementary has about 350 students (roughly 174 boys and 176 girls) and described staff levels including 19 general education teachers, six special-education teachers, 14 instructional assistants, four custodians and other support staff. She noted an English Learner cohort of roughly 27 students that are classified as EL based on WIDA testing and outlined literacy initiatives, yearbook work, Read Across America activities, school choir, field day scheduling and student community service (400 blessing bags delivered to local nursing homes).
"There's approximately 350 students enrolled at La Crosse Elementary School," Puckett said, and added the school has "about 27... that are actually considered to be EL based on the WIDA test." She described the school’s themed literacy work and community outreach projects.
The board also heard a presentation about Beta Club programming and student development. Miss Wright introduced student testimonials that emphasized leadership, volunteer service and competitive accomplishments. Student Slate George said, "Beta has been one of the greatest things to happen to me in my high school career," and other students described service-hour requirements, state and national competitions and an upcoming trip to the National Beta Convention in Florida.
Board members thanked staff and students for the presentation; the school’s yearbook, literacy and extracurricular work were highlighted as examples of student engagement.
