School board approves facility namings, ESSER supplemental appropriation, personnel actions and student expulsion

At the start of business the board approved a motion to name Carl Rod Road as Lucille Lane at the new Clarksdale Elementary School; the motion was moved by Mister Edwards and seconded by Mister Palmer and carried by roll call. No public commenters were registered for the hearing.
Finance committee recommendations were taken up and the board approved payment of bills. The board also approved a supplemental appropriation from ESSER funds to be used for maintenance after a motion by Mister Edwards, seconded by Mister Wright. The motion passed on a roll-call vote.
Personnel recommendations covering employments, resignations, retirements, transfers, supplements and adjustments were approved after a motion by Missus Coleman and second by Mister Winters.
The board supported the discipline committee’s recommendation to expel student SD2024202508 for a period of 365 days; the motion was moved by Mister Edwards and seconded by Mister Palmer and was approved by roll call. The board also approved a motion by Missus Chaney, seconded by Mister Winter, to deem the current wet-serving cafeteria lines at secondary schools surplus.
All recorded votes announced on the dais were approved by roll call. The board concluded with calendar reminders and brief member remarks before adjourning.
