Dr. Schwanhauser asked the board to renew the district's custodial-services contract with SSC for year 3 of a five-year term. He said the district's combined annual spend (contract plus a previously approved bonus) had been about $7.2 million and that a midyear 2024 increase of $444,000 allowed SSC to raise starting wages from $12.50 to $15.00 per hour, which the district said improved staffing levels.
The renewal request included a small contract increase of $82,415 to add recently opened spaces to the scope and proposed a total contract amount of $7,773,117 for the next year. Board members asked whether the district ever runs the custodial contract in-house or rebids; staff explained the RFP/bid history (use of TIPS and prior district bids). The board voted to approve the renewal; Willie moved and Joel seconded the motion.
No amendments were proposed during the meeting. Staff said they monitor performance annually and will continue to assess whether to rebid at renewal points.
