The Halifax County Board of Commissioners cleared a slate of consent and routine items on June 2, approving minutes, budget amendments, holiday schedules, permit lists and other normal business by voice vote.
The board adopted a proclamation recognizing Pride Month after a presentation by Steven Green of the Human Relations Commission. During public comment, Juliet Harris asked staff to follow up about a broadband service gap; staff asked for her contact information and said the county manager’s office would reach out.
The board approved a $55,000 lottery renovation allocation to repaint part of Queen of Bailey School and authorized accounts receivable write-offs totaling $62,244.46. Commissioners also processed a long list of board and commission reappointments and waivers of term limits, including members of the ABC board, economic development board, community college trustees, library board and workforce-development board. The reappointment of Shane Lynch as county assessor and adoption of a proclamation honoring a centenarian were also approved.
These routine approvals were completed largely by motion and voice vote and were included in the meeting’s consent and appointment sections.
