Halifax County holds required public hearing on FY 2025-26 budget; no tax increase proposed

The Halifax County Board of Commissioners opened a required public hearing on the proposed fiscal year 2025-26 budget on June 2. County staff said the budget has been available for inspection since May 19 and that no tax increase is included.
After reading the public-hearing guidelines and inviting comments, the board received no public speakers and voted to close the hearing. County Manager reported the formal adoption of the budget is scheduled for the board’s June 16 meeting at 5:30 p.m.
The manager also told commissioners that material discussed at the April budget work session was included in the proposed budget presented. The board gave staff direction to proceed to final adoption on the June 16 meeting date unless further changes are requested in the interim.
