Clear Creek Amana board appoints Lori Robertson, adopts legislative priorities and approves handbooks and policy revisions

The Clear Creek Amana Community School District board appointed Lori Robertson as board secretary/treasurer for the 2025–26 term and administered the oath of office on the record. The board then approved submission of legislative priorities for 2025–26, with the superintendent recommending literacy, a high‑quality teacher workforce (recruitment and retention) and expanded opportunities such as CTE and alternative programs as top priorities.

Board members approved a package of 2025–26 handbooks (elementary, middle, high, preschool, athlete/parent and coach/sponsor), with the caveat that handbooks may be amended to reflect future policy changes. Members discussed practical concerns such as senior citizen passes (eligibility over age 65 and proof of residency) and agreed to clarify distribution and publicity so seniors can access the benefit year‑round.

On policies, the board approved revisions including anti‑bullying/harassment, open meetings, abuse of students by district employees, staff qualifications, chronic absenteeism, student device use, graduation requirements and an AI‑in‑education policy. The board took a first reading of policy 50310 (school safety assessment team) and tabled disciplinary regulation 50308 to allow principals to finalize a behavioral matrix.

The board accepted a $14,189.66 donation from the CCA Booster Club for dumbbell equipment and set its next regular meeting for Aug. 20. Members also discussed scheduling, a district grounds tour, and a superintendent evaluation service option to be considered later.
