Clear Creek Amana board signs on to Care Solace pilot, approves multiple Grant Wood AEA consultant agreements

The Clear Creek Amana Community School District board approved a series of student‑service and consultant agreements, including a pilot of the Care Solace virtual mental‑health service with Grant Wood Area Education Agency (AEA), while also approving multiple one‑year AEA consultant contracts for ELL services, early‑years support and school improvement.
Superintendent described the Care Solace pilot as a free one‑year opportunity coordinated through Grant Wood AEA and identified Angelica as the district point person for the program. The superintendent noted that while the pilot is free for the coming year, it could carry future costs and staff will collect data during the pilot to evaluate continuing the program.
The board also approved a master agreement with Kirkwood Regional Center for a permanent enrollment partnership and a workplace learning connection memorandum of understanding for 2025–26. Finance staff clarified funding flows for AEA services: typically 90% of certain funds flow through to AEA services and a 10% district‑controlled portion is retained for district discretion; if the 90% portion exceeds available allocations, additional spending will come from the general fund.
All motions passed by voice vote. Board members and finance staff agreed the one‑year AEA agreements provide flexibility to evaluate services prior to committing to multi‑year contracts.
