Oakdale’s City Council unanimously ratified the city’s response to a Stanislaus County civil grand jury report that examined the police department’s compliance with post-mandated training standards.
A department representative told the council the city received the grand jury report on June 25, 2025, and that the city “agrees with all the findings.” The presentation said the department supplied training logs and related documents to the grand jury, provided three additional training records the grand jury had initially identified as missing, and that at the end of 2024 all sworn officers were recorded as compliant with POST training cycles.
The presenter acknowledged that portions of the master training plan lacked a specified mandatory domestic-violence training module, but said the department remains compliant with POST requirements and intends to maintain and update the master training plan and convene the training committee as needed. The presenter described steps already taken — supplying requested documentation promptly and increasing front-loaded training to reduce last-minute scheduling shortfalls.
Council members thanked staff for the thorough response and the work done to bring records into compliance. The city’s minute order approving the council’s response passed 4–0.
