Shine the Soup Kitchen seeks donations and a new home as current site is repurposed

Summary
Shine the Soup Kitchen told Easly City Council it serves roughly 200 meals most weekdays and is seeking donations of food and supplies; the kitchen also said the building owner plans to repurpose the site and the program is looking for a new location.
A volunteer on behalf of Shine the Soup Kitchen told Easly City Council the organization serves about 170 meals Monday through Thursday plus about 30 additional meals for women and children housed in participating programs — roughly 200 meals per day — and that supplies are running low.
Lisa Borean outlined specific needs, including canned green beans, peas and corn, potatoes, stovetop stuffing, three-compartment foam hinge-lid containers, packaged cutlery and cases of bottled water. She said local grocery stores regularly donate surplus items but that the kitchen’s shelves are becoming empty.
Borean also told council members that the owner of the building where the soup kitchen currently operates plans to use the property for another purpose, so the organization is looking for donated or low-cost space to continue operations. She asked anyone with leads on property donations or affordable locations to contact the soup kitchen.
The remarks were delivered during the public-comment portion of the meeting; the council did not take formal action during the meeting to relocate or fund the operation.
