Police leadership briefed the council on the Aug. 12 event, noting local partners and volunteers will provide music, food and activities. The chief said the donation from a local McDonalds ownership will be deposited in the general fund and routed to the explorer account to pay for bounce houses and similar costs; the chief also highlighted substantial community support including donated bicycles and volunteer labor.
The council moved and adopted Resolution No. 2025‑35 amending the fiscal year budget to accept and appropriate the funds. No public comments were made on the item.
The chief said the event will include a live band, a helicopter landing coordinated with Caliber Life Flight and distribution of backpacks and bicycles to attendees. Staff said larger event costs will be covered through the approved budget and partner donations.
Next steps: city staff will deposit the donation to the designated account and proceed with event logistics for Aug. 12.
