Commissioners approved a schedule of committee-of-the-whole meetings, facility tours and open houses to solicit public input on the county’s capital improvement plan and government center project. Staff proposed public open houses on April 9 (Sauk Rapids), April 16 (boardroom) and April 17 (Rice City Hall), with facility tours proposed for May 6 at 4 p.m. and a special board meeting on May 6 at 6 p.m., and the board agreed to distinct postings to avoid confusion.
During commissioner updates, members discussed the Mayhew Lake Road corridor and ongoing efforts to secure funding via state bonding or federal RAISE grants. Commissioners reported outreach to legislators and federal representatives in support of projects on County Road 1/29–3 and noted recent local referendums and sidewalk projects that strengthen grant competitiveness. Staff said the county’s corridor study and the five-year CIP will guide project prioritization and the board emphasized a short timeline to deliver projects expected to begin within the next two years.
The board also approved committee-of-the-whole dates for highway topics and other project planning; staff will advertise public meetings and follow up on schedule postings.
