The Anderson City Council unanimously approved on second and final reading Ordinance 25-12 to annex and zone 7.53 acres at 3801 Princeton Boulevard to General Commercial.
City planner Miss McKeown told the council the parcel is part of a shopping center split between city limits and an adjacent parcel under consideration for annexation; staff recommended approval because the site is contiguous to the city and within the city's service territory. "This is an area that we can provide service to, that we already do provide services to in many aspects," McKeown said.
A council member representing the district urged approval, saying the annexation "is a very good thing," and moved for final passage; the motion received a second and passed unanimously.
The council provided no conditions tied to the approval at the meeting. The second and final reading concludes the legislative process described at the hearing; no further council action on this ordinance was recorded.
