Bryan ISD trustees approve Fujifilm amendment, PASA demographic study and Optimum E‑Rate contract

The Bryan ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve three notable items at its January meeting: an agreement amendment with Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies Texas LLC, a demographic study contract with Population and Survey Analysts (PASA) for $56,700, and an E‑Rate internet transport contract with Seabridge Telecom Texas LP (doing business as Optimum) for $32,400 (one‑year term with four optional extensions).

Motion to approve Agreement Amendment No. 1 with Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies Texas LLC was made by Speaker 21 and, after being seconded, carried by unanimous voice vote. "Motion passes," the president stated following the roll of ayes.

Trustees also approved the PASA demographic study. After discussing competing bids, scope and the vendor’s track record, a trustee moved acceptance of a $56,700 contract with PASA; the motion was seconded and the board voted unanimously to approve the purchase. Trustees noted the vendor’s 12‑month follow‑up clause to address post‑study questions at no additional charge.

On technology procurement, assistant director Rob Hayes recommended awarding the district’s E‑Rate transport contract to Seabridge/Optimum. The board approved a one‑year contract for $32,400 with four voluntary extensions; Hayes explained the district expects a 90% E‑Rate discount, which would reduce the district’s cost to about $3,240 if funded.

Routine business on the consent agenda was also approved unanimously earlier in the meeting. The board took no actions during two closed sessions held under provisions of the Texas Government Code, and reported no votes were taken while in executive session.
