Metuchen reports strong CUSAC placement scores and posts graduation totals

Metuchen Sept. 30, 2025 Superintendent Dr. Patrick Caputo told the Metuchen Board of Education on Sept. 30 that the districts most recent CUSAC placement scores exceeded the state benchmark in every area and that required graduation statistics were submitted for the prior year.
Dr. Caputo summarized the CUSAC placement process and said districts must score at least 80 in five indicator areas or adopt an action plan. "Certainly, we're well above 80 in all the areas," he said, and listed the final area scores: instruction and program 90; fiscal management 92; governance 95; operations 100; personnel 100.
Dr. Caputo also read required graduation data: 173 total graduates in the prior year; 26 unique students met graduation requirements through substitute competency tests in ELA, math, or both; 11 unique students met requirements through portfolio appeals; zero students qualified via alternate IEP pathways; and zero students were denied graduation under those alternate pathways. The superintendent said the minutes would reflect these figures as the official record.
Board members did not debate the presentations during the meeting; policy items related to the CUSAC placement scores were included in the agenda for first reading (policy C2).
