Board moves first reading to update crisis-management policy to reference state anonymous threat reporting

The Bemidji Public School District board approved on first reading a revision to policy SBR 910-3R (crisis management policy) to add notification about the State of Minnesota’s Department of Public Safety anonymous threat-reporting system.
Staff said the change responds to a state statutory update intended to promote an anonymous, statewide threat-reporting mechanism. The policy addition will be reflected in the staff handbook to ensure employees are made aware of the state system and the district’s compliance with the statutory change.
Board members asked whether the policy addresses specific incident types (one asked about including the word "hurricane"); staff responded the policy is not intended to enumerate all possible hazards in that manner. The first reading passed by unanimous voice vote.
