Beloit school board approves one-year FinalSite contract to replace Blackboard as district web platform

The Beloit School District Board of Education voted Sept. 2 to approve a one-year contract to migrate the district’s web presence from Blackboard to FinalSite.
Jack Gerson, who briefed the board, said Blackboard currently hosts more than 3,500 pages for district sites, departments and programs and is the primary mass-communication channel for school closings, alerts and parent notifications. He described FinalSite as the district’s planned replacement for that functionality and said the district’s Skyward student information system integrates with the platform.
Superintendent Dr. Garrison confirmed the contract is for a single year and described the move as the district’s effort to consolidate communications and improve the user experience. By motion from a board member and a second, the board approved the contract on a voice vote.
The contract approval came after a request from trustees to ensure invoice routing and internal points of contact were clarified; a board member asked that the vendor be allowed to send invoices to someone other than the named administrator on the materials.
The board did not specify a dollar figure during the public discussion; the superintendent’s office said the contract and invoice details were included in the meeting materials and that the item was approved as presented.
