Saint Croix students highlight FBLA activities, regional success

Tracy Crowley, the district’s FBLA director, and FBLA coordinator Tammy Hifton introduced a student-led presentation at the Saint Croix School District board meeting on March 19 that showcased the chapter’s recent activities and competitive results.
Student leaders described membership at about 40 students and a range of career-preparation and leadership activities. Annabelle Worley, who said she is serving as region 1 vice president for Wisconsin FBLA, and Phoenix Troes, who announced she will be the region’s vice president next year, summarized the chapter’s recent accomplishments: a regional fundraising effort that raised $394.53 for the Alzheimer’s Association; workshops for members and community volunteers; and a student-produced digital video entry in a regional contest. Crowley and Hifton also noted that the local chapter has hosted the regional FBLA conference multiple times.
Crowley described the chapter’s competitive success: 23 state finalists from the school and two students — including Annabelle Worley and Phoenix Troes — placed second in their state events, qualifying them as top competitors and potential national contenders. The students detailed hands-on projects used for competitions, from a visual-design display promoting a fictional product to a digital video built with original photos and Adobe Premiere Pro.
The presentation also highlighted community partnerships and volunteer support: parent volunteers, alumni presenters and cooperation with the school’s FFA chapter to run workshops such as screen printing. Crowley thanked school staff who support the chapter’s events on campus and underscored that the chapter will send 23 students to state competition starting March 30 with the goal of advancing to nationals. The school board thanked the students and advisers for the report; there was no board action tied directly to the presentation.
The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for April 16.
