Sherman County commissioners approve routine business, AI policy and event permits

Sherman County commissioners opened their meeting by approving the agenda and the Aug. 11 minutes, then moved through routine consent business including payment of bills and several administrative approvals.
During the consent portion, the board approved payment of the bills as presented and unanimously accepted an ATV-event permit for Michael Dorn to hold a Flatlanders ATV event at the county fairgrounds on Sept. 27, conditional on meeting event criteria. The board also accepted a bid of $8,170 to trench a gas line to a landfill building to eliminate a propane tank; commissioners noted the county could recover about $2,486 if the gas company replaces the line.
The board approved a tax-roll correction identified as AAELT013 for 514 Caldwell (clarified in discussion as personal property) and granted a designated emergency-vehicle application from Cole Salmons.
In policy business, commissioners adopted a county AI usage policy created Nov. 18, 2024. Speaker 10 summarized the policy’s intent as placing responsibility for reviewing and approving county AI applications with the department head using the tool.
All motions in this package were moved, seconded and recorded as approved during the meeting. The board recessed to a road viewing later in the agenda.
