Superintendent highlights $139,124 in foundation grants and student honors across Alvin ISD

Superintendent Nelson opened the report by celebrating recent district accomplishments and community support. She said the Alvin ISD Education Foundation 'hit the road to surprise educators' and delivered $139,124.01 in grants for classroom projects including libraries, flexible seating and VR tools.
Nelson also announced that 36 staff members received the district 'Believes' awards for exemplifying Alvin ISD’s core beliefs. She recognized the district’s top students for the class of 2025 and said those students and their influential teachers will be honored at the foundation’s academic excellence banquet.
The superintendent reported that the Ready program’s 20-week offering graduated 95 families, giving children a stronger early-learning foundation. She thanked local Rotary clubs for donating a staff lounge to Walt Disney Elementary after tornado damage and encouraged the community to attend a job fair on April 12 at Shadow Creek High School to recruit across professional areas.
Nelson closed by noting the district’s pride in athletic and academic achievements, including numerous state qualifiers in swim and dive and powerlifting medalists, and the district’s first Spanish spelling bee winners. She thanked staff, volunteers and community partners for their support.
