Votes at a glance: Rensselaer County Legislature approves SRO agreements, grants and budget amendments

At its June meeting the Rensselaer County Legislature moved through an extensive consent agenda of resolutions authorizing intermunicipal agreements, budget corrections, grant acceptances and equipment purchases.
Notable approvals included G2-24-25 through G2-27-25: intermunicipal agreements with Berlin, Brunswick and East Greenbush school districts to provide deputy sheriff school resource officer positions and related 2025 budget amendments. Multiple resolutions accepted state allocations and grants for social services and the Department of Health (for example, acceptance of funds for the rabies program under G247-25). The body also authorized contracts with vendors for software support, janitorial supplies, summer food program services, and the purchase of various departmental supplies and equipment. Many of these resolutions were recorded as passing unanimously or by recorded tallies of 17 ayes.
On appointments and higher-education matters, the legislature reappointed a trustee to the Hudson Valley Community College board (P260-25). Legislator Grama acknowledged the college has been under recent scrutiny and urged the incoming trustee to help restore confidence; the reappointment passed with 16 ayes and one abstention (Legislator Grant). The legislature also set a public hearing date for the college budget (P261-25).
Other actions included approval of chamber repairs, furniture purchases for the new Board of Elections office, and acceptance of criminal-justice grant awards. One previously introduced resolution (G254-25) was withdrawn by its sponsor.
