Nevada OHV commission opens; summit, forum and film festival announced in public comment

The Nevada Commission on Off‑Highway Vehicles convened at 10 a.m. on Aug. 12, approved its agenda and minutes and heard public comment on upcoming events, the chair said.
Alexis Nelson, associate director of the Nevada Off Road Association, told the commission the group will hold an annual Nevada Offroad Summit at the Elko Convention Center in October, is organizing a Nevada economic strategy and recreation forum in Reno on Oct. 22, and is planning an Off‑Road Film Festival in November. “Our annual Nevada Offroad Summit will be held at the Elko Convention Center, October,” Nelson said.
The commission voted unanimously to approve the meeting agenda after a motion by Commissioner Glenn. Commissioners also approved the minutes of the May 29, 2025 meeting with a requested name‑spelling correction; the motion to approve the minutes carried after a second. Chair White reminded speakers of the public‑comment rules — three minutes per person and the requirement to say and spell names for the record.
With procedural items concluded, the meeting proceeded to staff reports, a financial presentation and a lengthy discussion of the program’s grants and registration processes. No formal policy changes or new spend authorizations were adopted during the procedural section; the board scheduled follow‑up work on several items discussed later in the meeting.
The meeting adjourned the opening items and moved into staff updates and the program’s regular business.
