East Meadow board approves consent agendas, custodial overtime and annual safety plan in unanimous vote

The East Meadow Union Free School District Board of Education unanimously approved routine business and operational items during its August meeting, including multiple sets of minutes, personnel and business consent agendas, a custodial overtime report for June 2025 and the districtwide safety plan for the coming year.

Board President (name not specified) opened the meeting by leading the Pledge of Allegiance and moving through a series of procedural votes. The board approved the July 23, 2025, minutes (motion by Miss Locastro; second by Miss DeLuca) and the August 6, 2025, minutes (motion by Miss DeLuca; second by Miss Whitman), with both motions passing on unanimous voice votes recorded as 5-0.

Trustees voted unanimously to approve salary changes and to accept the treasurer’s report for June 2025. The board also approved consent agenda items across categories: general consent E1–E2, personnel consent F1–F16, and business consent G1–G7. The custodial overtime man-hours report for June 2025 was handled individually and approved; Miss Locastro moved the motion and Mr. Carl participated in the second, with a 5-0 result.

On district operations, trustees voted 5-0 to adopt the districtwide safety plan, an annual item the board reviews each year. Board President introduced the plan and solicited a motion; Miss Locastro moved and Miss Whitman seconded the approval.

Trustees offered back-to-school remarks. Miss DeLuca welcomed students, staff and families "as we are on the heels of beginning another exciting school year," congratulated the class of 2025 and encouraged incoming kindergarteners, sixth graders and ninth graders. Miss Woodman reported that a Salisbury Center meet-and-greet for new families drew "at least 100 people" and praised "mister Rosner's presentation." The superintendent (name not specified) said he had "no official report for tonight," welcomed attendees and noted the district will receive nearly 8,000 students; he and "mister Spinaldo" are scheduled to present September results on test scores, graduation rates and AP course data.
