Chisago Lakes board approves consent agenda, handbook updates, ice-arena and superintendent contracts

At its meeting the Chisago Lakes School District board moved through routine business and several contract votes.

The consent agenda, which included claims and accounts, personnel items and previous meeting minutes, was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. The board then approved second readings of multiple policies and accepted annual handbook updates for elementary and high school after a brief staff summary that emphasized mostly small or legislatively required changes.

The board reviewed and approved a new ice-arena contract. An unidentified board speaker noted several rate adjustments: practice rates increased by $5 per hour, game rates increased by about $50, and spring-break hourly rates by $6. Legal counsel reviewed contract language before the item returned to the board; the motion to approve carried.

The board also discussed and approved the superintendent—s contract after the chair summarized negotiations. The chair said Superintendent Brian requested that his total compensation package not exceed settlement levels recently reached with other employee groups.
