Sebastopol City Public Arts Committee elects Jeff as chair, Robert as vice chair

The Sebastopol City Public Arts Committee unanimously elected Jeff chair and Robert vice chair during its regular meeting. The committee, which currently has one vacant seat, completed a routine roll call and approved December meeting minutes before the leadership votes.

Committee members said the leadership change follows the committee’s annual organizational process. After nominations and a brief public‑comment period, both officers were elected without recorded opposition.

The committee immediately moved to operational business, creating a two‑member ad hoc subcommittee to plan the April 5 opening for a bench and sculpture at the Johnson site and the May opening tied to work referenced for Ned Kahn. Staff emphasized that ad hoc groups of two may perform planning tasks between regular meetings provided their communications go through staff for distribution to avoid Brown Act issues.

Staff also noted the committee still has one vacancy; city staff reported an interview for a candidate, Gavin Waters, is scheduled with the City Council and, if appointed, would likely fill the seat by the committee’s March meeting.

The meeting concluded with scheduling items for upcoming agendas, including updates on the two openings and a March meeting date for routine business.
