Johnston City Council on an evening vote approved Resolution 25-1-94 authorizing the mayor to execute an electrical easement with MidAmerican Energy to bring power to the Merrill Hay Road water-trail access restroom and lighting.
City project staff explained the easement will allow MidAmerican to run power from a nearby utility box to the restroom facility and lights serving the Murrell Hay water-trail access. Staff said the building is substantially complete but crews are waiting for lower creek water levels to place limestone blocks and footings; barring further delays the work was expected to be finished this season, likely by October or November.
No members of the public addressed the council on the item during the hearing. The council moved, seconded and recorded affirmative votes and adopted the resolution.
