Board approves $40,000-per-year RTI subaward and MOAs for community use of school facilities

Tracy Fowler, senior executive director of student services, described the RTI subaward as a collaborative effort to strengthen school health, services and family engagement. She said, "The amount awarded will be $40,000 provided annually over the next 5 years funding as funding allows to be a flexible use for staff training and community events and more." The board moved to approve the agreement and adopted the motion by voice vote.
Separately the board approved a memorandum of agreement with Triangle United, a soccer organization, to use the soccer fields at Northwood High School; the item was presented as having principal and athletic director approval. The board also approved an agreement with Bennett Recreation Department to begin using school athletic facilities as part of its programming after the Bennett principal expressed support.
Each of the action items passed by voice vote; no board member requested additional study before approval. Administrators said they will circulate a full list of athletics MOAs to board members for future reference.
