Residents tell Caledonia board they will protest DNR trailhead parking plan, cite missing documents

He asked why the board and village council had not provided clear purpose, objectives or cost documents for the proposal and questioned how more than $100,000 (he described "a bet of more than a $100,000") could be considered without defined requirements.
Another commenter said she lives near the trailhead and that the trees there act as a filter for dust from a nearby grain elevator; she warned that removing about 60 trees in the proposed lot area would worsen "dust pollution" and argued a walled parking lot would create safety and visibility problems.
A third speaker said she and others had only just received the DNR application and that the township must approve any change; multiple public commenters said they intended to contest the DNR application and asked for an agenda item or special meeting so the school board and village council could answer residents' questions. The superintendent advised the board that no board decision on the project was planned that night and that the district would await further information from the village council.
