Caledonia board approves technology, furniture and abatement contracts

The Caledonia Community Schools Board of Education approved a package of facilities and technology contracts during its meeting, moving forward on network, furniture and abatement work needed across district properties.
Staff requested approval to buy additional network switches from Sentinel Technologies for $81,985 with 2020 and 2023 bond funds to support audiovisual upgrades and a paging-system update. "These switches will be used at several different facilities within the district," a staff member said during the request. A board member moved the purchase and the roll call vote was unanimous.
The board also approved furniture purchase agreements for the new Dutton Elementary School with three vendors: Custer Furniture for $369,407.66, DEWEL Furniture for $277,750.02 and School Specialty for $78,897.20. The motion was made and seconded and passed by roll call.
On a separate motion the board voted to contract Total Environmental Services for $112,400 to abate asbestos-containing materials at Calhoun Elementary. A board member who moved the motion noted a corrected dollar amount in the agenda; the motion carried on a recorded roll call.
The consent agenda—including minutes, payables and the personnel report—was approved earlier in the meeting by unanimous roll call. No opposition was recorded on the individual contract votes.
Board members did not take additional action on pending policy items such as a proposed district mask policy or a trustee security policy at this meeting. The board adjourned after the votes were completed.
