Superintendent Riley said the town conducted a walkthrough and will use the building for municipal purposes. She said district staff removed historical artifacts for safekeeping and that the town will renovate the property over time. "The town of Bristol is going to use this thing, so that's very exciting," Riley said, adding the town will take the steps necessary to rehabilitate the building.
Committee members discussed logistics for removing district property and allowing private schools or other local groups to claim reusable items (desks, chairs) before disposal. The motion as presented relinquishes the district's rights to lease the property and transfers responsibility to the town when the transfer becomes effective.
The committee recorded no objections during the roll call; the presiding member asked for any opposed members and heard none.
Next steps include coordination between district staff and town officials to finalize the turnover and inventory recovered historical materials.
