County authorizes $10,500 survey to explore moving pickleball courts to Millennium Park

The Boyle County Fiscal Court on Sept. 9 authorized a $10,500 site-survey contract with JRA to assess using Millennium Park for new pickleball courts and related park improvements.
County Administrator Julie Wagner told magistrates the city has proposed a schematic that could accommodate pickleball courts, a community pool, expanded skate park, sand volleyball and an updated park office. "He does feel like pickleball will fit in this site," Wagner said, referring to the architect’s review. The county asked JRA to perform a site survey, environmental checks and core drilling; the city will reimburse half the $10,500 cost.
Wagner said the JRA work is a preliminary step and that staff will return with more detailed cost estimates and, if needed, revised contracts. She noted the layout ties to the original 1999 Millennium Park master plan and that parking capacity appears adequate in the proposed scheme.
What’s next: JRA will complete the site evaluation and staff will report back with design recommendations and cost estimates.
