Boyle County renews Republic Services contract after company says tax issues are resolved

The Boyle County Fiscal Court voted Sept. 9 to renew its contract with Republic Services for solid-waste/recycling services after the company’s local representative told the court the firm had resolved outstanding property-tax delinquencies.
Angie Muncy, county recycling director, told the court that Republic had "caught up with their property taxes" and that the outstanding education-fund payment is expected and is being processed from a different internal account. "So we are still waiting for the education money. It is being taken care of," Muncy said.
Magistrates asked clarifying questions about the timeline and financial impacts. County staff said Republic had remedied the property-tax issue within days and that the vendor performed required services during the interim. After discussion the court approved a five-year contract term for Republic Services.
