Mannington board approves $2.49 million in final FY24–25 bills; total expenses reported at $54.0 million (unaudited)

The Mannington Public Schools Board of Education voted unanimously Monday to approve the district’s final fiscal-year 2024–25 bills, recording $2,488,884 in invoices for Aug. 11–20 that the board said would bring preliminary (unaudited) total expenses for the year to $54,016,043.
During a presentation, Unidentified Speaker 2 told the board the invoice report of $2,488,884 would be charged to the general fund and reiterated that the totals were unaudited. "The total invoice report is $2,488,884," the presenter said. The presenter said that, as of that report, the district’s total expenses for the year stood at $54,016,043 and described the approximate breakdown between payroll and accounts payable.
The presenter identified several larger items included in the invoice batch: a depreciation fund transfer totaling $1,925,000 that the presenter said had been allocated across accounts (the presenter described allocations to technology, textbooks and vehicles), a Year 1 payment to the software vendor Synergy as part of a planned implementation to replace Nessus, Midtown concrete repairs, an activity fund transfer and a mower purchase at just over $26,000.
Unidentified Speaker 1 moved to approve "the transfers and bills for payment as presented," and Unidentified Speaker 2 seconded. The board conducted a roll-call vote with members recorded in the transcript as Jerry; Tim; Kara; Joe; Steve; and Allison — all of whom were recorded answering "Yes." The board announced the motion had passed.
Board leaders reminded the public that these figures are unaudited and remain subject to final accounting and audit procedures. They also announced upcoming meetings: a budget hearing at 6:00 p.m. Sept. 8 at the district office, a budget adoption meeting Sept. 23 at 5:00 p.m., and a Curriculum and Americanism committee meeting Sept. 5 at 5:00 p.m.
The board adjourned after completing business. Unidentified Speaker 1 offered to sign student papers for attendees after the meeting.
