On IS‑42, McKenzie said changes are minimal but important for public access: the district research contact has been updated from Lana Simmons to Denise Hook and the application form in the packet reflects this change. She noted that graduate‑level researchers must provide IRB review documentation or a department chair letter certifying equivalence if a university does not require IRB review. "I do require an IRB review unless university doesn't," McKenzie said.
On IS‑48, McKenzie said the district is adding a nondiscrimination clause to the regulation and aligning language to a recent state change: South Carolina has removed the state exit exam requirement, so references to an exit exam were struck from the regulation.
Board members asked procedural questions about redline copies and executive summaries for remote participants; staff confirmed the redline and executive summary should align and that the new student‑services regulation (SS‑62) is a fresh document without redline markups. The committee did not record separate formal votes on IS‑42 or IS‑48 in the transcript.
