The Opioid Abatement Council approved four policies at its Feb. 27 meeting: the communications policy, the county funding policy (including a remediation checklist), the OAC office duties policy, and a transparency policy. Each policy was presented as a clean copy for approval after staff and counsel reviewed edits.
Staff emphasized the need for clear written processes and legacy documentation to ensure continuity. During discussion of the county funding policy, members raised concerns about improper uses of settlement funds (for example, unrelated capital projects) and reviewed the semiannual reporting process: counties sign letters of agreement specifying how funds will be spent and report allocation and service counts in semiannual reports; on‑site fiscal reviews are handled by the comptroller.
Each policy was approved by roll call. The chair reiterated that the council follows a transparent process and denied any prearranged deals. Staff will post approved policies on the OAC website as promised.
