McDonald highlighted changes that could benefit districts: Batavia is currently receiving approximately $0.76 back on each dollar of certain BOCES‑aidable expenditures, and the state will raise the aidable cap for career and technical education teacher salaries by $10 per year over the next three years—moving the aidable portion closer to $60,000. He described work to refinance past capital debt and plans to begin a building‑condition study and capital‑project planning with architects and bond counsel.
McDonald said districts that lease space from BOCES pay lease rental and that the capital budget has been a stabilizing factor in multi‑year averages for cost centers. He also noted early‑college and apprenticeship efforts that can generate future aid, and he thanked Batavia trustees for supporting the BOCES budget in district voting.
McDonald closed by inviting questions and said BOCES staff will return to district boards as capital‑project planning progresses.
