Annandale board approves capital budget, preliminary fund balances, personnel actions and donations

Capital and budgets: The board approved the fiscal-year 2026 capital budget and long-term facility maintenance allocations (including funding for a track now under construction). District staff presented the FY25 final fund-balance report and the preliminary FY26 fund-balance projection: a projected FY25 deficit spend near $800,000 (which includes the $367,000 of recent state impacts) and a projected FY26 deficit of roughly $181,000 before salary step increases or negotiated settlements. Staff noted that a 1% step or a 2% raise materially affects fund balance; steps and salary negotiations remain subject to bargaining.
Personnel and contracts: The board approved a monthly resolution accepting donations. It adopted two resolutions placing two tenured continuing-contract teachers on unrequested leave of absence as part of reductions (names read in the meeting). The board approved a set of 2025–26 contracts including hiring an ADCS-funded behavior intervention specialist (Alana Kopp) for the alternative learning program at the high school and approved work assignments for a paraprofessional and a custodian for 2025–26.
Policies and other items: The board approved six policies under review (public-data-request procedures, conflict-of-interest rules, criminal/civil action policy, school board member development, and school board committee policy). The board also recognized student state qualifiers in golf and track & field and will send congratulatory letters.
