Long‑serving South Euclid‑Lyndhurst board member to resign effective July 22

An unnamed South Euclid‑Lyndhurst Board of Education member told colleagues at a July 15 special work session that she will resign effective next Tuesday, July 22.

The board member said December would mark 16 years on the board and described the decision as a personal one. She thanked constituents, district staff and fellow board members and said she supports the district's leadership and the potential levy the board is considering. “Effective next Tuesday, July 22, will be my last day here at South Euclid and her schools in the capacity of a board member,” she said.

The statement included personal reflections on raising children in the district and references to online harassment directed at her. She said her choice to leave is not due to any action by the administration: “My buyout bow out is not because there is anything wrong. There's nothing that this administration has done to me… I have to choose me,” she said.

The resignation was announced during discussion of agenda item 3.2 and preceded a separate vote later in the meeting. The board did not take any formal action on the resignation during the public portion of the meeting; the chair later moved the board into an executive session for personnel at 6:22 p.m. and said no action would be taken while in executive session.

The departing member urged remaining colleagues to continue their work on behalf of children and to support whoever joins the board in the future. The district has not announced plans for filling the upcoming vacancy.

The work session also included routine business and a legislative update; the board reconvened after the executive session and closed the meeting.
