The Agua Fria Union High School District’s communications team presented an ACT Incentive Program that paired student-preparation incentives with local business partnerships.
Alyssa Scribe, speaking for Communications and Strategic Alliances, said the initiative sought to create a community-wide culture of support before the ACT by soliciting video messages and donated rewards from local partners. Ten businesses participated and the program collected nearly 1,000 coupons valued at approximately $8,400 in total; donated items included free appetizers, meals, discounted coffee and entertainment passes.
Students who participated in study sessions or showed preparation were entered into drawings; students who improved their ACT score by even one point were eligible for rewards. The program also featured a grand prize — a year of free pizza donated by a local restaurant. The district shared selected partner videos during the meeting.
Scribe said the program not only rewarded students’ efforts but also increased visibility for participating businesses through district social media, which reaches an audience the presentation characterized as about 10,000 people in the Southwest Valley.
Board members praised the collaboration and the communications team’s approach to building community support around academic preparation.
