After a public hearing with no speakers, Rochester Hills City Council unanimously adopted winter 2025 millage rates that set the city's overall rate at 11.2753 mills, a 0.428‑mill (3.9%) increase attributed mainly to a county contractual increase for deputy coverage.

Rochester Hills City Council on Monday voted unanimously to adopt winter 2025 millage rates that set the city's overall rate at 11.2753 mills, a 0.428‑mill increase from last year. City staff said the rise, about 3.9% on the bottom‑line rate, largely reflects a recent 36% contractual increase approved last December by the Oakland County Board of Commissioners for sheriff deputy coverage.
City administration presented the proposed millage during a public hearing; no members of the public signed up to comment. “This proposed increase is due to the recent 36% increase in the Oakland County Sheriff's Office contractual rate,” the city's presenter stated at the hearing.
Council also approved special lighting levies for two subdivisions: Christian Hills and Denison Acres at $16.28 per lot. The resolution directs the assessor to spread the adopted amounts on the winter 2025 tax rolls and implements the rates needed to fund FY2026 budgets for the city, the OPC, RARA and the Rochester Hills Public Library.
Council members asked questions but did not amend the proposal. The measure was adopted by voice vote with no recorded opposing votes.
The adoption completes the city's statutory step required before submission of millage rates to county equalization by the Oct. 1 deadline.
