Board hears progress reports on Iroquois and Van Antwerp renovations; district says projects are ahead of schedule and under budget

Representatives from Turner Construction and King & King presented a capital‑projects update to the board. They reported Iroquois Middle School is substantially complete and fully occupied for seventh and eighth grades. At Van Antwerp, work on the occupied side (the "46 Wing") included classroom reconfigurations completed over the summer; demo and foundation work continue on the construction side. Presenters said playground mulch and fencing installation should be finished by the end of the week with paving and a grand opening planned in early October.

The high‑school project work includes replacement and commissioning of water‑to‑air geothermal units and progress on gym floor sanding and finishes; exterior panels for the high school are scheduled for mid‑October installation. The superintendent credited Turner, King & King and the district facilities team and noted that favorable bids allowed additional occupied‑side work this summer.

Financially, the presenter and superintendent said funds remaining from the 2021 referendum and careful budget performance will free additional money to support Van Antwerp and other elementary projects. "When you're reporting on capital projects, the best thing you can report to your board is on time and on budget," the superintendent said. The board will be invited to two student‑led tours of completed spaces at Iroquois and Van Antwerp and a community open house and ribbon cutting will be scheduled when work allows.
