District finance chief says $45 million cash reserve will cover operations amid delayed state budget

The district’s finance update warned that the Pennsylvania legislature had not yet passed the 2025–26 state budget, and that routine state payments to school districts could be delayed, but board members were assured the district can continue operations in the near term.
"We have a healthy cash balance in our general fund. It's approximately $45,000,000 as of this morning in the general fund," the finance director said, and added that, given conservative planning, the district could operate without interruption for at least two to three months even if state payments are delayed.
The director explained the district’s heavy reliance on state funding (about 70% of the budget) and said staff are monitoring the situation and working with PASBO and other supports. He said periodic updates will be provided to the board as the fiscal situation evolves.
Board members thanked staff for conservative planning and asked to be kept apprised of any changes. No emergency actions were taken at the meeting.
