The Sullivan County Board of Education approved a resolution to lease a track loader for the district maintenance department after staff recommended the equipment to support upcoming facilities projects.
Mr. Burgett described operational needs for the loader and asked the board to approve a lease through Meters Machinery in Tri Cities Inc. Miss Rouse moved to approve the resolution and Mr. Robinson seconded. Board members proceeded to a vote and recorded affirmative responses from those present; staff said crews would coordinate schedules so work could start quickly.
Staff emphasized that the lease and associated work would be funded from a shift within the current 2024–25 maintenance budget rather than by seeking new money. The district plans to complete several projects, including work at Mary Hughes and three other schools (with phased timing for some projects postponed until July), and staff said Mr. Berschett will share drawings and logo options for bleacher updates as the projects proceed.
No additional appropriation was requested at the meeting; staff will return with project timelines and visual materials to principals, coaches and board members for input.
