The board received an overview of the district's communications plan and platform changes intended to centralize outreach to families and staff.
Harris, the communications lead, presented a new district profile and explained the district's approach to aligning commitments for clarity, transparency and accessibility. She described monitoring engagement metrics (click rates and delivery timing) to optimize when and how the district sends newsletters and calendar reminders.
Harris discussed the district's move to ParentSquare — a platform that consolidated messaging and replaced Remind after ParentSquare acquired that vendor — and said the system automatically translates messages into parents' preferred languages and imports contact data from the district student information system. "We have 95% of the district staff and students rolled in," Harris said, describing the initial adoption.
Harris also described Catapult EMS, an internal emergency-notification and staff-management tool the district uses for serious incidents. The communications team said Catapult allows rapid internal alerts for evacuations or other critical events and that staff are trained to recognize Catapult notifications.
Board members asked about translation quirks, data imports and previous experience implementing new platforms. Harris said the team is troubleshooting feed issues where language preferences did not import and is monitoring adoption across ParentSquare, the website and other channels.
No formal board action was required on this briefing; staff will continue to monitor and report implementation metrics.
