The Meeker County Board on Aug. 25 approved multiple land‑use applications presented by Land Use Director Greg Schultz, including a rezoning and preliminary plat for a 21.15‑acre parcel, renewal of a mining interim use permit, and a three‑lot final plat along a lakeshore area.
Greg Schultz outlined the first item: rezoning and a preliminary plat for the Lundin Hills (also referenced as Dean Hills) addition in portions of Government Lots 2 and 3 in Section 3, Dassel Township. The 21.15‑acre parcel (parcel 7045030) is proposed to be rezoned from A‑1 Agricultural Preservation to R‑2 Residential to allow a three‑lot plat (lot sizes described in Schultz’s presentation: Lot 1 ~2.06 acres, Lot 2 ~3.2 acres, Lot 3 ~13.3 acres). Schultz said surface water will flow as before and that a wetland delineation was completed with a 50‑foot buffer where no buildings are allowed. Attorney Emily Wood reviewed title work and found conditions requiring tax payment at recording.
MICHELLE moved to approve rezoning application #16622; the motion was seconded and the board voted to carry the motion. A separate motion to approve preliminary plat application #16623 for the three‑lot Lundin Hills addition was then made and approved.
The board also considered interim use permit #16621, a renewal for operation of an aggregate pit and processing on Parcel 5011050 in Danielson Township. Schultz said the pit occupies 14.14 acres within a 243‑acre parcel, was originally permitted in 1995, and that about 1,074 cubic yards of material have been sold from the site in the past five years. He described a 4‑ft berm, no dewatering, and a reclamation plan to eventually restore the land to agricultural use. Commissioner Schmidt moved to approve a six‑year renewal conditional on standard reclamation and operational measures; the motion passed.
Finally, the board approved the three‑lot final plat for Asheville/Nashville Shores Sixth Edition on Parcel 3014701 along 746th Avenue (lot sizes ~0.54, 1.15 and 1.63 acres). Schultz noted a February variance permitting nonstandard septic systems due to previously disturbed soils and that prior assessments on the property had been paid.
There were no public objections recorded during the Lundin Hills rezoning hearing; commissioners asked technical questions about government‑lot descriptions, septic types, and access. The board’s approvals included standard conditions such as satisfactory title work, trustee and lender signoffs for plat recording, and adherence to wetland buffers and reclamation plans.
The board moved on to other agenda items after a brief recess.
