The district described outreach tactics used to reduce balances: automated weekly email notifications when an account reaches -$10, district outreach when balances reach -$100, phone messages, and individual building principal follow-ups. The business officer said roughly 150 families have outstanding balances and that the total represents a mix of small and larger debts.
Board members discussed ways to increase family awareness (phone messages had better response than emails) and noted that the district will adopt ParentSquare as its communication platform next year to improve reach.
