Tuttle approves columbarium pad and $10,000 cemetery budget amendment

Staff said they solicited three quotes and received a single bid from Rush Services for $12,500 to construct the pad; staff requested a not-to-exceed amount of $15,500 to preserve flexibility for a slightly different sidewalk alignment or aesthetic treatment. The council approved the pad at the not-to-exceed price and approved budget amendment 2025-12, transferring $10,000 to the capital line to cover both the columbarium and pad construction.
During discussion staff explained the pad will be overbuilt with piers to reduce the risk of settling because the site includes some soft ground; staff said they would not perform a soil borings program to save cost and instead are increasing structural depth. Council members raised no objections to the approach and the motions passed on roll call.
What’s next: staff will schedule the work with the contractor and draw funds from the cemetery capital project line once invoices are received.
