Jasmine Kyle, representing the Southeast Kansas Humane Society, told the commission the shelter operates at roughly $30,000 per month, handled more than 250 animal intakes last year and that over 95 percent of intakes come from Pittsburg residents. "We are asking for partnership," Kyle said, urging the city to contribute to avoid increased strain on animal control and to fund vaccine clinics, microchipping and emergency sheltering.
